Armageddon Scenarios 2009

#10 is my favorite:
Prediction ten. As an economy is never independent of the society within which it functions, the next few paragraphs will focus on social and political factors. These factors will have as much of an impact on market and consumer confidence as any developments in the financial sector.

Whether rightly or not, President Obama, having come to power at the dawn of this crisis, will be blamed for it by over 50 percent of the population. He will be a one-term president. In response to his perceived socialization of America, there will be a swarm of secessionist and extremist activity, much of it violent. Militias and armed sects will be more prominent than in the early 1990s. Stand-off dramas, violent score-settlings, and going-out-with-a-bang attacks by laid-off workers and bankrupted investors—already a national plague—will become an everyday occurrence.

For both economic and social reasons, millions of immigrants and guest workers will return to their home countries, taking their assets and skills with them. The flow of skilled immigrants will slow to a trickle. Birth rates will plummet as families struggle with uncertainty and reduced (or no) income.

America long ago left the free market economic system, but most recently has been running full tilt towards command and control government style take over. Just this last week, America's two biggest car companies were re-organized by the government in a way that will handsomely benefit the unions and other special interest groups. While we have seen this power grab before-in the 30's and 70's, government control is just beginning to surface under this new administration. President Obama's three main points: Cap & Tax Carbon Regulations, Socialized Health Care, & Union Card-Check will only increase the government's control on our lives. Socialized Car Companies, Higher Taxes, Socialized Health Care, and other government run industries are blow after blow to the average working class American.

I wonder whether this current grab may the final blow to an already beleaguered middle class.

Rome fell largely due to its middle class being oppressed and run out of town. Currently, just about 40% of American's pay no income tax at all while the top 5% pay over 60%. Populist outcry often leads to government designed outcomes from bureaucrats that favor the 'oppressed minority' which often turn out to be the biggest welfare receipts of large government largess. America is sitting precipitously close to the edge of fascist dictatorship. As Alex Hamilton once said, "A nation that preserves disgrace to danger is in need of a master, and deserves one."

Seismic Shift

We are seeing the seismic shift that the Bible long ago prophecied that would have to happen before the return of our Lord. America's place in this world is never mentioned in Biblical prophecy, puzzling to understand given America's role in the world. Before the Lord returns, the shift of power will happen. How will the fall of America take place? It may very well be what started just in the last few years with our economic crisis. Still, seeing this shift is mind boggling. It is mind blowing to comprehend and understand the vast changes that are taking place here in America. This new liberal administration along with a filibuster proof majority in congress continues to impose their will and forever change the course of America's history. Think about the shift that is occurring just in the US.

Economic: Massive government intervention. A move from the private citizen to the government dole. A deficit projected of 2 trillion this fiscal year alone will leave Americans for decades to come dependent upon their government for support. We are going the way of the Soviet style command and control, centralized planning route faster than a speeding songbird. ajority 5-4 opinions. These dicta
Social: The Supreme Court could easily have 2 more (Stevens, Ginsberg) justices retire after Souter, who announced he will step down soon. While all three replaced are liberals themselves, we will have 3 new young liberal activists who will look to impose their will upon the court in writing any m>could and most likely will see transnationalist law, decisions that will take opinion from national law and outside the constitution and impose those laws on US soil--superior to the US constitution.

Political: Cap & Trade policies, hate crime laws, regulations of banking/auto/education/you name it industries.

We are seeing the seismic shift of policies in this country at an incredibly fast rate. Seeing all these things, I am reminded of the importance of staying alert and making the most of every minute we have to make a difference in this world. Take courage and stay strong with these words.

Teach Us to Number Our Days:

The Bible says, "So teach us to number our days, that we may apply our hearts unto wisdom" (Psalm 90:12). Yesterday I arranged my calendar, looking down the course for 365 days and how best to spend them in God’s will. God goes a step further and encourages us to estimate our lifespan and go the distance, according to His plan. Our Lord said to number our days that we may apply our hearts unto wisdom. As we attempt to apply His wisdom to our vulnerable, brief span that we find ourselves on this earth, with your permission let me set these challenges before you:
